Manchester United’s rocky start to the season in Michael Carrick’s first campaign as permanent manager continues with a first game back in the Champions League.
The visitors at Old Trafford are Azerbaijani champions Sabah, just eight years after being founded.
Carrick will be desperate for a positive start to the league phase after another setback at Everton, following Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s stoppage-time blockbuster.
And after a year outside of European competition, following the agonising Europa League final loss to Tottenham, United will be desperate to start working towards a top eight finish and automatic progress to the last 16.
