Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be charged at the KL Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with an asset declaration investigation.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be charged at the KL Sessions Court tomorrow.
His lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, confirmed the matter to Kosmo today.
The prosecution against the Bera MP will be reportedly heard before Sessions Court Judge Suzana Hussin.
The case is understood to be related to an asset declaration. However, details of the charges to be brought against him have yet to be disclosed.
Earlier, proceedings against Ismail Sabri, which were originally scheduled for Aug 7, were postponed to Aug 27.
Judge Suzana fixed the new date after Amer Hamzah, who represents Ismail Sabri, sought an adjournment as his client was receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) for health problems.
“The court allows the proceedings for the reading of the charges and the recording of the accused’s plea to be postponed to Aug 27,” Judge Suzana said.
Previously, Ismail Sabri had been called several times to have his statement recorded in connection with an asset declaration he made to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC also seized RM170 million in cash in various foreign currencies and 16kg of pure gold bars, estimated to be worth RM7 million, as part of its investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving him.
The seizures were made during searches of residences and offices believed to have been used as “safe houses” following investigations into four of Ismail Sabri’s senior officers, who were arrested in February 2025.
