Israeli military warns residents to leave parts of Tyre in south Lebanon after strikes damage a major hospital and wound at least 11 people.

TYRE: Israel’s military issued an urgent evacuation warning for several neighbourhoods in and around this southern Lebanese city on Saturday.

The warning followed overnight strikes that damaged a major hospital and wounded at least 11 people.

Colonel Avichay Adraee, the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesman, said on X that “Hezbollah’s terrorist activity compels the IDF to operate against it with determination.” The strikes destroyed two buildings near the Lebanese Italian Hospital, shattering its windows and causing ceilings to collapse inside.

Hospital management confirmed the facility would “remain open to provide the necessary medical care” despite the significant damage. Tens of thousands of people have already fled Tyre, though approximately 20,000 residents remain, including 15,000 displaced from surrounding villages.

A wave of attacks hit the Tyre area on Saturday, including one on its port that struck a small boat. Another Israeli airstrike completely destroyed a mosque in the town of Baraashit in the Bint Jbeil district, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.

The Israeli military stated it had “completed an additional wave of strikes targeting command centres” belonging to Iran’s Quds Force and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Beirut’s southern suburbs. It also struck a bridge in the West Bekaa region for a second day, destroying it completely to prevent the movement of reinforcements.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on northern Israeli towns and troops in Lebanese border areas. The conflict has displaced over a million people in Lebanon and killed more than 1,300, including 53 medics and three UN peacekeepers.

Three Indonesian UN peacekeepers were wounded in a blast inside a UN facility near Odaisse on Friday. Indonesia’s government condemned the incident as “unacceptable,” stating it “underscore[s] the urgent need to strengthen protection for UN peacekeeping forces.”
