TYRE: Israeli airstrikes damaged a hospital in the coastal Lebanese city of Tyre, wounding 11 people.
The Lebanese health ministry reported the incident on Saturday, stating the Lebanese Italian Hospital sustained damage from strikes on nearby buildings.
The hospital’s director told the state-run National News Agency it would “remain open to provide the necessary medical care” despite the impact.
Hospital management said the strikes shattered windows and caused suspended ceilings to collapse inside the facility.
An AFP correspondent confirmed the attacks destroyed two buildings adjacent to the hospital.
A series of strikes hit the Tyre region, including one on its port that struck a small boat and damaged others.
Israel has carried out strikes across Lebanon and launched a ground invasion in the south.
This followed Hezbollah entering the Middle East war on the side of its backer Iran on March 2.
Tens of thousands have fled Tyre, but around 20,000 people remain despite Israeli evacuation warnings.
The NNA also reported Israeli forces abducted a man in Shebaa, near the border, early on Saturday.
