Kota Kinabalu: An Italian who violated his social visit pass by working as a trainer, was fined RM500 in default three months’ jail.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain meted out the sentence to Antonio Battistessa, 45, who pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
The offence under Rule 39 (b) of the Immigration Rules 1963 carries a jail term of up to six months, or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.
Battistessa, who holds an Italian passport, committed the offence at a martial arts and fitness centre in Penampang on July 28.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyuhada Tuan Mamat appeared for the prosecution.
