The local Municipal Corporation has achieved a distinction in the ongoing Census 2027 operations by securing the top position among all civic bodies in Punjab in completion of Census field work.

The achievement was accomplished under the RP Singh, Joint Director, Census Department, who was on a three-day review visit to Jalandhar, Sandeep Rishi, Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, MC Jalandhar, and Dr Sumandeep Kaur, Joint Commissioner-cum-City Census Officer.

Vikrant Verma, Assistant Commissioner-cum-Charge Officer-II, completed 100 per cent of the field work pertaining to his charge, making him the best-performing Charge Officer among all Municipal Corporations in Punjab. MC work here is divided into four zones

During his visit, Singh conducted extensive field inspections, interacted with enumerators and supervisors, reviewed the progress of census activities, and appreciated the outstanding efforts of the census team. He congratulated Verma and his team for achieving complete field work within the stipulated timeframe and setting a benchmark for other MC across the state.

Singh appreciated the efforts of the officers, supervisors, enumerators and field staff.
