IPOH - Police have recorded statements from 36 individuals regarding the disappearance of female climber Jaslinda Saludin who was found safe last Saturday, 14 days after she was reported missing while climbing Gunung Batu Putih, near Tapah.

Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said all the individuals whose statements were taken included Jaslinda and her husband, Haszman Othman, 61, as well as friends who were involved in the climbing activity.

He said a statement was also taken from an individual involved in uploading defamatory content against the Tok Batin of Kampung Orang Asli Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh regarding the discovery of Jaslinda.

"The man has been remanded for four days starting today to assist in the investigation into the defamation case.

"The case involving Jaslinda is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955," he said at a press conference after witnessing the handover ceremony of the Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department head at the Senior Police Officers' Mess in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here today.

Last Saturday, Jaslinda, 49, was found safe by residents of Kampung Orang Asli (KOA) Lubuk Gaharu after going missing for 14 days since May 24 while climbing Gunung Batu Putih.

Previously, deputy head of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (Investigation/Legal) Supt Mohd Ridzuan Nor Ihsan was appointed as the acting head of the Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department, replacing ACP Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah who will retire on June 18. - BERNAMA
