One anonymous NBA executive believes that Jaylen Brown’s trade value is quite low, and teams can land the former Finals MVP at a bargain.

With Brown not being traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Celtics are now left with a disgruntled player who knows the team tried to get him off their books.

Brown is coming off an excellent season, where he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists to lead the Celtics to a 56-26 record, good enough for second in the East. But his trade value has gone down significantly.

Anonymous NBA GM: Jaylen Brown trade value has drastically gone down

Speaking on NBA Today, Shams Charania revealed that there isn’t a long list of suitors for Jaylen Brown amidst his recent hostile stance towards the franchise.

One unnamed NBA executive told Charania that the Celtics’ desperation would lead to them getting 40 cents on the dollar in terms of trade value for Brown.

“I can’t find a team right now that is willing at this moment to give up that amount of draft capital. So then it just becomes are Brad Stevens and that front office fine trading away Jaylen Brown for, you know, potentially less than that?

“Potentially, you know, I had one GM say 40 cents on the dollar. That’s because that’s what it’s come down to in Boston.

“They just have not been able to find teams as of yet to get to that threshold, but there’s still a lot of time left in this offseason.”

Jaylen Brown seeking Boston Celtics exit due to frustration

According to a report from the Boston Globe, Brown has grown frustrated with the Boston Celtics because of how they have handled the offseason after he put up excellent numbers in the regular season.

“League sources said that the Celtics have continued to field calls from teams interested in trading for Brown.

“A league source said that Brown has grown frustrated with the organization’s approach following a season in which he guided the Celtics to 56 wins while Jayson Tatum was sidelined for months with an Achilles injury.”

Both the Celtics and Brown seem set for a bitter divorce, but there is one big concern as things stand – no team has made a formal approach for Brown just yet.

While Brown is a talented and decorated player, he also earns upwards of $180 million over the next three years. On top of that, Brown’s recent public expression of frustration has other NBA teams thinking he is a malcontent.

As such, teams will not be willing to give up the heavy assets needed to land Brown only for him to refuse a contract extension with them.
