Joe Sugg has warned fans not to fall for AI pictures that claim to show his and partner Dianne Buswell’s baby, clarifying that the Strictly Come Dancing star is yet to give birth.
Sugg, 34, and Buswell, 36, announced in September that they were expecting their first child after seven years together. They are set to welcome a baby boy later this year.
While the couple have been sharing pregnancy updates with their fans on social media directly, YouTube star Sugg has revealed that many people – including family and friends – believed Buswell had given birth after seeing an AI photo of them with a newborn baby.
Sharing the artificially generated photo on Instagram, Joe said in a video: “I woke up this morning with loads of family and friends messaging me saying, ‘Oh, congrats on the news. I thought you’d tell us first before it was on the internet.’
“This is AI. Look – that’s not me. I don’t know who it is but that’s not me. That’s not my chin. It’s not my hair, unfortunately. That’s not Dianne, that’s not our baby – although I do hope he’s that cute.”
He then turned the camera to show an expecting Buswell, who said: “I am still very much pregnant.”

Signing off the video, Sugg said: “He’s not here. It’s AI. AI is scary.”
In the caption, meanwhile, he wrote: “I worry for the Facebook generation sometimes with all this AI malarkey,” alongside a laughing face.
The post’s comment section was flooded with Strictly Come Dancing stars, with Vito Coppola writing: “Ahahahahah,” with a laughing face.
Gorka Marquez commented: “Is Okey guys according to AI news we are pregnant again and got married last week in secret wedding.”
Sugg and Buswell met on Strictly in 2018 after being paired together in the competition. They made it to the final but lost out on the Glitterball trophy to documentary presenter Stacey Dooley and her now-partner Kevin Clifton.
Earlier in February, the pair – who now vlog together – gave fans a glimpse at their baby boy’s nursery in an Instagram montage. The clip saw them paint the room green before installing duck wallpaper and fitting a cot and shelves.
Sugg revealed that his favourite thing in the nursery was the bookshelf, which was made by his grandfather. “He would have been well chuffed to see that on the wall,” he wrote in the caption.
After Strictly hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced their departure from the show last year, Sugg commented on the “rushed” nature of it in a YouTube video.
He explained that he and Buswell were previously hurried into announcing her pregnancy in September after an unnamed media outlet had contacted them about publishing the news before they had told their friends and family.
“We had to announce it slightly rushed,” he said. “And I don’t know if it's the same reason why Claudia and Tess had to rush their news out – if it was, then it's very annoying.”
