JOHOR BAHRU - Amanah Communications Director Khalid Abd Samad has called on Johor voters to send a message to Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state election, saying the coalition should be reminded to be more humble and appreciative of its political cooperation with others.
Khalid said Umno had accepted support from Pakatan Harapan (PH), including DAP representatives, in other states but continued to criticise DAP in Johor.
He pointed to Perak and Pahang, where he said PH and DAP had supported Umno leaders in forming state governments.
"In Perak, PH can support Umno to become the Menteri Besar. In Pahang, DAP assemblymen can support Umno to become the Menteri Besar," he said.
"PH can support, DAP can support. That is fine. But here in Johor, they continue to attack DAP and PH. They are arrogant. They are not grateful," he added.
Khalid said Umno-BN should reflect on the support it had received from political partners and adopt a more respectful approach towards its allies.
"I call on all of you, let us teach them a lesson. Bring them back to where they should be - be a little more humble, be more modest and have some shame," he said.
He claimed Umno-BN’s attitude towards its political partners showed a lack of appreciation for cooperation that had taken place at the national and state levels.
"They do not want to change, so we have to teach them through this election," he said.
Khalid urged Johor voters to come out in full force on polling day and support PH as a way to send a strong message to Umno-BN.
"I call on all Johor voters to come out and vote for Pakatan Harapan. Teach Umno-Barisan Nasional a lesson," he said.
