Johnson Wagner is confident that Jordan Spieth will add a fourth major to his résumé, and has even hinted at when he thinks it might happen.
If you’d told golf fans back in 2017 that Jordan Spieth would still be searching for his fourth major heading into 2026, most wouldn’t have believed it.
Spieth was phenomenal in 2015, playing some of the best golf seen since Tiger Woods’ prime. He took home two majors that year and didn’t finish worse than fourth in any of them.
But those heights have been hard to reach again. He hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since the RBC Heritage in 2022, and his last top-10 finish in a major was at The Masters a year later.
Johnson Wagner tips Jordan Spieth to finish the Career Grand Slam
Wagner, speaking on CBS Sports, said that he not only believes that Spieth will complete the Grand Slam but predicted he will do so next year.
“It was from the year 2000 to the year 2025 before we saw anybody complete the Career Grand Slam after Tiger. And before that, you’ve got to go way back as well. We are living in this incredible moment where we have Jordan Spieth now, since 2017, going for the Career Grand Slam at the PGA Championship. I don’t think he’s going to get it done at Aronimink. I think it’s going to be next year at PGA Frisco that he gets it done in his hometown,” he said.
“But I think Scottie Scheffler, we could have back to back seasons of winning the Career Grand Slam, I just think there’s nothing like it. And for Scottie to do first attempt, on his birthday, the stars are aligning. It’s one of my favourite golf courses in the world, possibly my favourite US Open venue, Shinnecock Hills, I just think it wouldn’t get any better for me than that. And then, if you think about Rahm and Xander and the other guys that have two majors, in the next 10 years, we could have four, five guys completing this Career Grand Slam, which I think is an unbelievable accomplishment and speaks to the true overall quality of a player’s game.”

Jordan Spieth’s Record at the PGA Championship
Spieth doesn’t have history on his side at the PGA Championship. He’s managed just two top-five finishes in 13 appearances, and the only major where he’s fared worse is the U.S. Open, where his lone top five came with his win in 2015.
His last top-10 showing at the PGA came back in 2019, and he hasn’t cracked the top 25 there since.
Even so, Spieth has made a positive start to the 2026 PGA Tour season, including a tie for 12th at the Genesis Invitational. There have been moments that reminded fans of what he’s capable of.
But despite those encouraging signs, it’s clear that there’s still a long road ahead before Spieth looks ready to challenge for another major title.
