Jorge Masvidal has taken issue with comments made by Chael Sonnen and is now calling for a fight between the two.
‘Gamebred’ hasn’t fought since leaving the UFC in 2023, following a run of four consecutive defeats. His return has been talked about, but nothing official has been announced yet.
UFC president Dana White recently said he’s been in touch with Masvidal about a comeback, though no opponent has been lined up so far.
The former BMF titleholder also mentioned he’d be willing to drop back down to welterweight if it meant getting another shot at his old rival Leon Edwards.

Jorge Masvidal fires back after being called a liar by Chael Sonnen
Jorge Masvidal has fired back at Chael Sonnen after the UFC legend accused him of lying in one of his YouTube videos.
Sonnen claimed that Masvidal is making up stories about a potential return to the Octagon, insisting there is no truth to it.
The former BMF champion didn’t take kindly to those comments and issued a strong response on the Deathrow podcast, even going as far as calling Sonnen out for a fight.
“This mother has nerve, he’s transitioning to a woman, and he’s talking to me?”
“Every time he mentions my name, his 17 fans tune in because he literally has no views, everyone has forgotten about this guy… I’m gonna beat the living breaks out of you, but not for free. I’ll pay you to come over to my promotion, bare-knuckle MMA, I’ll go up to heavyweight, beat the lesbian out of you.”
Their relationship wasn’t always this hostile. They used to have some mutual respect until Masvidal called Sonnen a “snake” back in 2022. Things only got worse when Sonnen went on to corner Colby Covington, who just so happens to be one of Masvidal’s biggest rivals.
Sonnen hasn’t fought since 2019, when he retired after losing two fights on the bounce. His final win came against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson in January 2018.
