Leong Jun Hao defeats H.S. Prannoy in straight sets to reach the second round of the 2026 China Open in Changzhou.

NATIONAL men’s singles player, Leong Jun Hao has advanced to the second round of the 2026 China Open after defeating Indian representative H.S. Prannoy today.

In the action held at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, Changzhou, the player who is ranked 27th in the world had no problem winning straight sets 21-10, 21-14 in 32 minutes.

Awaiting Jun Hao in the second round on Thursday is another first round winner involving Danish player, Anders Antonsen against Chinese representative, Weng Hong Yang.

Also advancing to the second round today is veteran national doubles, Tan Wee Kiong-Nur Azriyn Ayub who defeated teammates Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King 25-23, 21-17 in 36 minutes.

The professional pair will face either South Korean pair Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae or Taiwanese pair Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan for a quarter-final berth

Meanwhile, the desire of the newly paired duo, Aaron Tai-Aaron Chia to advance to the second round was not fulfilled when they returned early after losing to the Indonesian pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 17-21, 19-21 in 38 minutes.
