Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin says Bersatu should simply expel members who attend events organised by those removed from the party.

PUTRAJAYA: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin suggested that Bersatu could simply expel members who attend gatherings organised by those previously removed from the party.

Responding to a question about claims that Bersatu members had been warned against attending such events, the Larut MP said the matter could be resolved easily if the party chose to act against them.

“Actually, if it’s better for Bersatu, then this is the way, right? Just expel them.

“That would be the best, I think. Just expel them. Then it’s not difficult. Just expel them.

“What’s so hard about expelling them?” he told reporters after an iftar event here.

Previously, Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali issued a circular warning that all party members are strictly prohibited from attending meetings or gatherings organised by individuals expelled by the party’s Disciplinary Board.

The directive followed the expulsion of several party leaders, including Hamzah, who previously served as the party’s deputy president.
