GEORGE TOWN – The JustGO digital toll payment system is now available at the Penang Bridge, offering highway users a more convenient, seamless and flexible payment option.
State Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the implementation makes Penang Bridge one of the locations within the PLUS-operated highway network that supports toll payments using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
He said the activation of JustGO at the Penang Bridge marked another step towards strengthening the digitalisation of the country’s transport and toll payment systems.
“With JustGO, users who have registered their vehicles can drive through the toll plaza without having to choose a lane based on a specific payment method.
“The ANPR system will detect the vehicle’s registration number, and the toll transaction will be processed automatically using the payment card linked to the JustGO application,” he said in a statement today.
Zairil said the LaneFreedom feature introduced by JustGO enables users to use any available toll lane at the Penang Bridge.
However, at the Bandar Cassia toll plaza, JustGO is currently available only at RFID lanes marked with a red circle.
He added that users who were born and reside in Penang and register through the JustGO system will also enjoy a 20 per cent discount on tolls at Penang Bridge. –BERNAMA
