
The three-day first Kabir Bajwa Memorial Table Tennis Tournament 2026 concluded with thrilling and fiercely contested final matches at the sports complex of Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Sector 69, Mohali. The final day witnessed intense competition among young paddlers, who impressed the audience with their exceptional agility, precise techniques, and high-speed rallies. Teams from seven renowned schools of the Tricity and surrounding regions participated in the prestigious tournament, including Learning Paths School, Shemrock School, Mohali, Manav Rachna, Mohali, Vivek High School, Chandigarh, Amity School, Mohali, St Joseph’s, Chandigarh, and Paragon School, Sector 71. In the Under-14 Boys category, Learning Paths School displayed outstanding aggressive gameplay to defeat Vivek High School, Chandigarh, 3-0 and clinch the first Kabir Bajwa Memorial Championship Trophy. In the Under-12 Girls category, the host Shemrock School, Mohali, team showcased brilliant coordination and defeated Paragon School 3-0 to register a magnificent victory. The Under-12 Boys final between Shemrock School and Vivek School turned out to be a closely fought contest. Vivek School emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, riding on their superior services. In the play-off match for third position in the Under-14 Boys category, Vivek School defeated Shemrock School 3-0 to secure the bronze medal. Throughout the tournament, the host school maintained a remarkably consistent performance across all categories. Shemrock School secured the overall runner-up position in both the Under-12 Girls and Under-14 Girls categories, while also finishing third in the Under-12 Boys division. During the closing ceremony, school Chairman AS Bajwa honoured the winning players with trophies and certificates. Sports experts praised the successful organisation of the event and remarked that the Kabir Bajwa Memorial Tournament would emerge as a major platform for budding table tennis players in the years ahead.
