A joint team of CIA-1 and Civil Lines Police arrested four accused involved in an assault case in which a youth was brutally attacked with an ice-pick-like weapon at Kaithal bus stand.
The accused were later taken to the crime scene for reconstruction of the incident and identification of the exact location.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ankit alias Mota of Pai village, Shilli of Kasan village, Robin of Sandeel village in Jind district, and Sachin of Devban village, said SHO Civil Lines, Inspector Ramesh Chander.
Giving details, the SHO said that the case was registered on the complaint of Lalit, a resident of Narval village. In his complaint, Lalit stated that on June 10, at around 5:30 pm, he and his friend Ankush reached Kaithal bus stand from ITI.
There, they met Ankit, Shilli, Robin, and their accomplices, with whom they had a previous enmity. After a brief argument, Ankit and Seeli allegedly took Lalit aside. Ankit then attacked him multiple times with an ice-pick, while Seeli also attacked him. The victim was rescued after nearby people intervened.
The accused allegedly fled the spot. After the registration of the case at Civil Lines Police Station, CIA-1 in-charge Sub-Inspector Jaswant Singh and SHO Inspector Ramesh Chander led a joint operation that resulted in the arrest of the four accused.
The SHO said that the police would not tolerate any person involved in violent activities or disturbing law and order.
