Kelantan’s deputy MB says the state government is open to any MACC investigation into alleged cronyism in SUK appointments, stressing merit-based hiring is not illegal.

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan state government has welcomed a potential investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into allegations of cronyism linked to appointments at the State Secretary’s Office (SUK).

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan stated the government has no objection to any probe should there be a breach of the law.

“I would like to stress that recruitment based on merit is not an offence,” he told reporters after attending the state executive council meeting.

He was responding directly to queries regarding the allegations of cronyism in SUK appointments.
