The victim, who worked as counter staff at the premises, suffered burns to about 50% of her body and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital. She is currently reported to be in stable but critical condition.

Acting Sentul district police chief Supt Jasni Zolpa said preliminary investigations found that the woman had no known enemies and had not received any previous threats.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown and is still being investigated.

Family searching for CCTV footage

Following the attack, the victim’s family has appealed to nearby shops, businesses and residents around Taman Pusat Kepong and the Sport Toto area to check their CCTV and dashcam recordings.

The family said they have identified a possible suspect from available CCTV footage. The individual was reportedly wearing a light blue or grey shirt and black pants.

They are particularly looking for footage that could show the person’s movements, a suspicious vehicle or anything else that may help police establish what happened.

The family said they are also struggling to understand why the woman was targeted, as none of their family members had been involved in financial disputes or had any known personal grudges with others.

With no obvious motive, the family said they could only speculate that the attacker may have mistaken the victim for someone else.

Kepong MP offers RM5,000 reward

Meanwhile, the Kepong MP has offered a RM5,000 reward for credible information that directly leads to the arrest of the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

Anyone with information can contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Amri Firdaus Jusoh at 010-9198209, the Sentul district police headquarters operations room at 03-40482222, or the nearest police station.
