Kota Kinabalu: A two-week notice to evict Kampung Sembulan Tengah residents has been relaxed after a meeting between them and the Kota Kinabalu City Hall Saturday.

Mayor Datuk Seri Dr. Sabin Samitah however said they would pursue their plan to carry out cleaning work and remove rubbish around the water village area.

“Our next engagement with the landowners is on Oct. 8 to further discuss on the issue,” Sabin told the media after a two-hour meeting at Sembulan Hall.

Some 200 households in the village earlier called on Sabah leaders, particularly Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, to honour their promise not to evict them from their homes where they have lived for generations.
