Just one month after Rembayung opened its doors, Khairul Aming, has been receiving hundreds of suggestions for his newly launched restaurant.
Most recently, a social media user suggested that Khairul require customers to present their identity cards (ICs) before dining to curb scalping activities. Currently, Rembayung does not accept walk-ins, and customers are required to make online reservations, with bookings handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
“It’s a breach of private data.”
However, Khairul is not keen on the idea of asking customers to produce their ICs before entering the restaurant. Responding on Threads, he politely declined the suggestion, saying he would not resort to such a measure just to prevent scalpers.
“I can’t do that. As a restaurant operator, there is no need for me to ask customers to produce their ICs.”
“That would be a breach of private data,” he said, explaining that IC details are highly sensitive information under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
Yesterday (February 6), Khairul marked Rembayung’s one-month anniversary. In one of his Threads posts, he revealed that the restaurant has served a total of 16,113 customers so far. He described the past month as “a reality show”, saying a lot had happened since Rembayung opened to the public.
In the same post, Khairul thanked customers for their tremendous support and expressed hope that those who had visited Rembayung were satisfied with their experience.
“I apologise for the shortcomings, but please know that we take every piece of feedback seriously,” he said.
