Khanna police has set a benchmark in Punjab Police’s Emergency Response System by recording the fastest response time across the state.

Kapurthala police district lags behind in Punjab with 16 minutes 43 seconds response time to distress calls.

According to the latest state-level report under the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) project, Khanna police has emerged as the number 1 in Punjab among 28 police districts and commissionerates with an average response time of just 7 minutes 31 seconds.

This has enabled it to outperform even larger urban commissionerates like Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar.

The report highlights that police teams in Khanna are reaching emergency spots quickly and taking immediate action on every call.

As per the state-level “Event Response Time Summary Report” dated May 10, Punjab recorded 1,783 events, out of which police responded to 1,726. The statewide average response time stood at 11 minutes 22 seconds. Khanna police beat this average by nearly four minutes.

In Khanna district, police received 43 emergency events and responded to all with a 100% response rate. The district has 18 four-wheeler ERVs deployed under the project.

“I personally monitor the control room, patrolling and field systems round the clock to ensure immediate assistance to the public. Khanna police will continue to do good policing in future also,” said SSP Dr Darpan Ahluwalia.

The ERVs are equipped with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) and smartphone systems, enabling direct communication from the control room to the vehicles. This allows teams to reach the spot without delay.

Across Punjab, 1,152 ERVs (199 two-wheelers and 953 four-wheelers) are currently operational, and police personnel have been trained in modern technology.
