A Malaysian woman bought chocolate and sweets for a pregnant stranger after her husband refused, winning praise online for her thoughtful gesture.
A Malaysian woman’s kind gesture recently warmed hearts online after she stepped in to make a pregnant woman’s day a little brighter.
Taking to Threads, the woman shared that she noticed a pregnant woman at a petrol station shop asking her husband if she could buy a chocolate bar that cost “less than RM15”. According to the post, the husband allegedly dismissed her request, telling her not to be so “dramatic”.
The pregnant woman then put the chocolate back and picked up a smaller-sized bar, pleading with her husband and explaining that she was craving it. However, he reportedly ignored her, paid only for his chewing gum and walked out of the store.
“I swear, I saw the woman open her purse and dig through coins. At that moment, I was clenching my teeth, trying not to cry. I mean, I’m a woman myself, and if I were ever in that position, I would honestly cry and be devastated,” the woman wrote.
After giving up on buying the chocolate, the pregnant woman left the shop to join her husband, who was smoking outside.
Moved by the situation, the local woman decided she could not let the pregnant woman walk away disappointed. She bought not just one, but two large chocolate bars, along with several other sweet treats.
She then ran after the pregnant woman and handed her the bag of chocolates and sweets.
“Her face immediately looked like she was about to cry. I was trying so hard to be a tough woman, but I felt emotional too. She refused many times, but I kept insisting,” she added.
At that point, the husband approached them and reportedly tried to take the items. However, the Malaysian woman stood her ground and firmly told him that the food was meant solely for his wife.
“I looked straight at him and said, ‘No. I don’t allow it if you take it. All of this is for her. I saw you buy chewing gum earlier. Just chew that,’” she said.
She claimed his expression immediately changed — appearing embarrassed and reluctant to react — while the pregnant woman tried to hide her smile.
The woman then left, while the pregnant wife silently mouthed her thanks multiple times. She later added that she had to use her inhaler after the incident, as her asthma flared up from running.
The heartwarming encounter quickly gained traction online, with many netizens praising the woman’s compassion and condemning the husband’s apparent lack of care for his wife’s simple cravings.
“You may think it’s just a small act, but trust me — she will remember this for the rest of her life,” one user commented.
