Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s largest book fair, the Kota Kinabalu International Book Fair 2026, drew a record 150,000 visitors over five days at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Organised by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in collaboration with IDS Sabah, the Sabah State Library and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, the event was officially closed by Head of State Tun Musa Aman on Sunday, who praised its role in nurturing a reading culture.
UMS Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kasim Mansor said the fair recorded about 5,644 student visitors, featured international exhibitors from Brunei and hosted 58 activities under the theme “Ilmu Dijunjung Bangsa Disanjung”.
Among the highlights was the Anugerah Buku Borneo 2026, which recognised several works, including an award-winning book by Prof Datuk Dr Danny Wong Tze Ken.
