SHAH ALAM - Police have received instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's (DPP) office to proceed with charges regarding the death of a dog named Rocky.
Selangor police chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, stated that the charges will be brought to the Klang Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
"Insya-Allah, the charges are expected to be brought tomorrow at the Klang Magistrates' Court.
"I request media partners to refer to the court in Klang to obtain the exact time for the proceedings," he said during a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) here on Wednesday.
Previously, Sinar Harian reported that a man targeted by public backlash following an altercation during a stray dog capture operation involving Rocky would be charged in court.
The case gained widespread attention after a video showing the incident, which occurred in Taman Telok Gedong Indah, Klang, on July 29, went viral on social media.
He added that the charges are expected to involve not only the police, but other enforcement agencies will also be bringing charges related to the issue.
However, Shazeli did not elaborate on whether the charges involve a man and a woman previously linked to the case.
He also declined to reveal the specific sections or legal provisions to be used, asking that the matter be referred to the court on Thursday.
"I suggest that our media partners wait and obtain the details at court tomorrow," he said.
