KUALA LUMPUR — Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) will revise fares for its KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services from Jan 1, 2027, with the standard one-way adult fare between KL Sentral and Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) increasing to RM65 from RM55.
ERL said the fare adjustment was made after 11 years since the last review in 2016, following a significant increase in operating and maintenance costs, in accordance with its concession agreement with the government, Bernama reported.
ERL chief executive officer Datin Noormah Mohd Noor said the fare revision reflected the realities of operating and maintaining a high-quality airport rail service while ensuring the system remains in good condition to serve passengers over the long term.
“For the past years, KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit have continued to provide services that are safe, reliable and comfortable while managing increasing operating costs.
“This fare adjustment will support our efforts to maintain high service standards and invest in improvements to enhance the passenger experience, and we remain committed to providing the fastest and most reliable connectivity between KL Sentral and KLIA,” she said in a statement today.
Under the revised fare structure, the one-way adult fare between KL Sentral and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 will be RM65, while the fare for children aged six to 15 will be RM29.
The return fare for the same route will be RM118 for adults and RM53 for children aged six to 15. Children below six years old will continue to enjoy free travel.
ERL said fares for other routes would also be adjusted, with adult one-way fares from KL Sentral set at RM7.70 to Bandar Tasik Selatan, RM16.60 to Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, and RM21.60 to Salak Tinggi.
For journeys between intermediate stations, adult fares will be RM9.50 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, RM14.70 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Salak Tinggi, and RM5.60 between Putrajaya and Cyberjaya and Salak Tinggi.
The fare between Bandar Tasik Selatan and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 will be RM45.40, while the journey from Putrajaya and Cyberjaya to KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 will cost RM11.50.
Passengers travelling between Salak Tinggi and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 will pay RM5.80, while the fare between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will remain at RM2.
For children aged six to 15, one-way fares will range from RM1 to RM20.50 depending on the route, while children below six years old will continue to travel for free.
ERL said it was working closely with various business partners to explore exclusive ticket discounts of up to 30 per cent from January 2027, allowing passengers to enjoy greater savings on their journeys.
The company said further details on the discount offers would be announced once the arrangements were finalised.
This year marks the 24th anniversary of ERL’s service connecting KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 with the city centre. The company said it has carried more than 141 million passengers through its services to date. - September 30, 2026
