A FOREIGN woman was killed after falling from the outer balcony area on Level 3 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 in Sepang earlier today, in an incident that unfolded in full view of airport personnel and members of the public.
KLIA District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M Ravi said the incident occurred at approximately 2.20pm on Friday, when the 27-year-old woman was seen sitting outside the balcony area, crying and shouting aggressively.
"Staff and security officers attempted to calm the woman, but were unsuccessful, and a KLIA security officer then tried to approach her to rescue her.
"However, the woman struggled and jumped into the KLIA2 loading bay area," he said in a statement.
Emergency medical responders arrived promptly and administered initial treatment at the scene before transporting the woman to Hospital Putrajaya for further care.
She was later pronounced dead at around 5 pm.
Police checks confirmed that the victim was a Chinese national scheduled to board a return flight to China on 2 May.
"The cause of the incident remains under police investigation. The case is being handled under the Sudden Death Report (SDR) procedure," Ravi said.
Before the official confirmation, a 40-second video of the incident circulated widely on social media, appearing to show the woman falling from a height within the terminal, with early speculation suggesting a possible suicide attempt.
In a separate development, another video emerged showing a man lying face down on a grassy area, believed to have fallen at the same airport later that evening. However, his condition has not been confirmed.
Ravi acknowledged the second incident and said it remains under investigation. - May 2, 2026
