Kota Kinabalu: SMK Kolombong and SK Kolombong emerged champions in the Kota Kinabalu District School Sports Council (MSSD) Special Education Athletics Championship concluded at the Likas Stadium on Saturday.

SMK Kolombong won the overall under-15 title with their total haul of 20 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals.

In second place was SMK Inanam with 16 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals followed by SMK Sanzac with six gold, eight silver and three bronze medals.

The overall under-12 title went to SK Kolombong with four gold and four silver medals closely followed by SK Sembulan with four gold, three silver and two bronze medals while in third place was SK Bukit Padang with one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Read more In the best individual awards, Mohd Sah Jaidi SMK Sanzac won the under-15 boys title and the under-12 title went to Adlyshah from SK Sembulan.

SMK Kolombong’s Nursuhailah Rudi was the winner in the girls’ under-15 category while her junior schoolmate Nur Haimasarah Abdullah took the under-12 title.

A total of 245 student from five secondary and 11 primary schools participated in the competition.

Kota Kinabalu Education Department Officer Suhaimi Matshah said in his speech that the competition was held to serve as a platform for the students to showcase their talents.

He also expressed his gratitude to the organising committee for their hard work to ensure the success of the competition and also to the parents for their support.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Assistant Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries Minister Peto Galim who also gave away the prizes.
