Paparian Hornet cruise to Kota Kinabalu Hockey League title

Kota Kinabalu: Paparian Hornet captured the Kota Kinabalu Hockey League title after thrashing SSMS (Sabah Malaysia Sports School) 6-2 in the final at the Likas Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

Granson Hoel scored a hat-trick for the winning team with the other two goals coming from Muhd Saifudin and one by Awangku Iskandar Sarizan while SSMS’s goals were by Mohd Azfar and Mohd Fadli.

The semi-finals held earlier saw Paparian Hornet brushing aside Weston United 4-0 while SSMS also beat Paparian Eagle with the same scoreline.

In the third place playoff, Paparian Eagle defeated Weston United 1-0 with the winning goal scored by Mohd Faiz Aizat.

The league that started on July 5 with the participation of 10 teams was divided into two groups.

Weston United topped Group A at the end of the rounds with Paparian Eagle in runners-up spot while SSMS went top in Group B followed by Paparian Hornet.

The closing ceremony was officiated by director of Institut Kerjasama Kerajaan dan Rakyat (IKRAR) Azrul Ibrahim.
