Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Berhad (Kopeks) is looking to venture into coconut cultivation on two parcels of its land in Beaufort as part of efforts to put its idle assets to productive use.
Sabah Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (MCSC) Director Awg Rusli Mohammad said the two parcels had been identified as suitable for coconut cultivation.
Rusli said the plan was among matters discussed with Kopeks Chairman Datuk Saat Ag Damit, who was also present.
“There are two parcels in Beaufort which are suitable for coconut cultivation, and Kopeks plans to plant coconuts on both,” he said during a working visit to Kopeks’ office here on Thursday.
Rusli said the proposed venture would open a new avenue for Kopeks to utilise its land assets and expand into new business activities.
