KUNAK: The opening of Kunak Lipids Sdn Bhd’s Phytonutrient Extraction Plant will strengthen Sabah’s role in the global oleochemical market while creating jobs and driving local economic growth, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Represented by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, Hajiji said the initiative reflects Sawit Kinabalu Group’s commitment to diversifying beyond raw commodities, in line with the state’s vision to advance the palm oil value chain.

He highlighted the Group’s production of local tocotrienols under the brand Sawit Kinabalu Tocotrienols (SKT3), which will reduce import dependency, open new nutraceutical opportunities, and promote healthier living for Malaysians.

Hajiji added that sustainable cultivation is vital to meet rising demand and assured that the state government will continue supporting downstream palm oil investments to generate revenue, skilled jobs, and regional competitiveness.
