
On the occasion of National Technology Day, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kurukshetra University, organised ‘Aawahan-2026’ in collaboration with the Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology Directorate of Science and Technology.
Several technical competitions would be organised during the two-day technical fest.
On the inaugural day, Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said technology would be the driving force behind the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047 and called upon students to contribute through innovation, research and entrepreneurship. He said nations that lead in technology also lead in economic and social progress, adding that India is rapidly emerging as a global technology powerhouse.
Emphasising the need for industry-oriented research, Prof Sachdeva urged the young innovators to focus on critical sectors such as semiconductor technology, renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainable development. He also stressed the importance of promoting startups in agriculture and food processing to strengthen the rural economy and create employment opportunities.
Speaking about the expansion of academic opportunities at UIET, Sachdeva said the introduction of civil engineering would equip students with modern technical expertise and contribute significantly to infrastructure development and nation-building.
UIET Director Prof Sunil Dhingra said that “Aawahan-2026” serves as an important platform to nurture students’ technical skills and innovative thinking. Event coordinator Dr Priyanka Jangra outlined the key highlights of the two-day technical fest.
Deputy Director Public Relations Dr Jimmy Sharma said the two-day event commenced with the inauguration of a technology exhibition by Vice-Chancellor Sachdeva, who reviewed innovative student-made models, research projects and technical prototypes showcased during the exhibition.
