
TAWAU: Police arrested a 30-year-old labourer suspected of slashing a contractor with a sharp weapon at Tanjung Batu Laut.
Tawau Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect was detained in front of the Tawau Hospital Emergency Unit around 9pm, Wednesday.
The incident involving a 40-year-old man reportedly occurred behind an unnumbered house in Kampung Otentik Tanjung Batu Laut around 1.10pm. The victim’s 50-year-old brother filed the police report on Thursday.
According to the complainant, he received a call informing him of his brother’s injuries following an attack by an unknown man behind his in-law’s house.
The victim was rushed to Tawau Hospital.
A team from the District Criminal Investigation Department (BSJD) later arrested the suspect allegedly involved in the incident.
Police confirmed the suspect had previous convictions for burglary, unnatural sexual intercourse and drug abuse.
Investigation are being conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by using dangerous weapons, and Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt.
