University of Perpetual Help System Dalta opened its campaign in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 101 women's volleyball tournament with huge five-set victory over defending champion College of St. Benilde on Sunday at San Andres Gym in Malate, Manila.
The Lady Altas prevailed, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 17-25, 16-14.
Cyrille Almeniana scored 27 points on 25 attacks for Pepetual Help. She also has 12 digs.
Shaila Omipon, team captain Charisse Enrico and Jemalyn Menor added 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Sandy Rieta-coached squad.
Fianne Ariola tallied 20 excellent sets while libero Jody Lozano collected 32 excellent digs and 15 receptions.
Middle blocker Zamantha Nolasco led the way for St. Benilde with 25 points, 21 of which came from attacks and 4 from blocks.
