Lahad Datu General Operations Force records over RM3 million seizures in July

LAHAD DATU: The 17th Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) Lahad Datu detained 21 individuals and seized goods worth more than RM3 million in 16 raids in July.

GOF Lahad Datu, in a statement Thursday, said they comprised eight local men and 13 foreigners who were detained for various offences.

Among the goods worth RM3,007,947.35 seized were diesel and petrol, cosmetic products, syabu, frozen products, Philippine-bred fighting cocks, smuggled cigarettes and vehicles believed used in carrying out the illegal activities.

Among the successes recorded are drug seizures by Company A during Op Taring Esszone in Tanjung Batu, Labian that led to the arrest of a foreigner with syabu weighing 14.55gm.

The case was investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and has been handed over to the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division of the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters for further investigation.

During the Op Taring Alpha 1, the Intelligence Division detained a Proton Gen 2 carrying smuggled cigarettes in Taman Warisan 2 and arrested two foreigners.

The case has been handed over to the Crime Investigation Division for further investigation.
