Kota Kinabalu: Large-scale chicken smuggling has been taking place due to lax security at the Veterinary Department, causing massive losses to the Sabah Government and affecting supply.
The matter came to light following a visit by Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries I Sabah, Datuk James Ratib, to the department’s premises in Sepanggar, early Tuesday.
“The way they control chicken smuggling is very loose. I have taken several resolutions that are expected to curb the large-scale smuggling,” he said.
