Lawyer confirms Bea Alonzo, Vincent Co wedding; dismisses prenup dispute reports

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Bea Alonzo and businessman Vincent Co are officially married, with the actress's legal counsel confirming their civil wedding at Makati City Hall while dismissing earlier reports that a prenuptial agreement had caused delays or disputes before the ceremony.

In a statement released Tuesday, Atty. Joey V. Garcia of GERA LAW confirmed that Alonzo and Co exchanged vows in a civil ceremony at around 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13, at the Makati City Hall, with Makati Mayor Nancy Binay officiating the wedding.

"Yes, I confirm that the civil wedding of Ms. Bea Alonzo and Mr. Vincent Co took place yesterday evening at around 7:00 PM at the Makati City Hall, and the ceremony was solemnized by Mayor Nancy Binay.

Since there have been previous reports and public speculation regarding an alleged issue involving a prenuptial agreement, allow me, for the sake of accuracy and fairness, to clarify the matter," Garcia told GMA News in a statement.

The confirmation comes months after speculation that the couple's rumored wedding in Spain, reportedly scheduled for May, had been called off amid reports that disagreements over a prenuptial agreement had stalled the marriage plans.

Garcia categorically denied those claims, saying the reports were inaccurate and that both parties willingly entered into the agreement before the wedding.

"The earlier reports suggesting that there was any dispute, hesitation, or unresolved issue concerning a prenuptial agreement are not accurate.

As counsel, I can confirm that the parties freely, knowingly and voluntarily executed their prenuptial agreement, and the same was properly signed by both Ms. Bea Alonzo and Mr. Vincent Co prior to their marriage. There was no legal impediment arising from the execution of the agreement," Garcia said.

He added that he would no longer discuss the couple's personal affairs.

"Beyond this clarification, I respectfully decline to comment further on the couple's private affairs out of respect for their privacy and confidentiality," he said.

Just before Garcia's statement, Binay also confirmed the wedding through social media, sharing a photograph of the newlyweds embracing inside her office at the Makati City Hall.

"Kinasal ko na po sila," ("I have married them."), Binay wrote in the caption.

She followed it with a message for the newlyweds: "Congratulations & Best wishes Vincent & Bea."

Binay also shared a selfie with Alonzo taken inside the Office of the Mayor following the ceremony.

The official confirmations came hours after talent manager and entertainment commentator Ogie Diaz reported that the couple had quietly wed in a simple civil ceremony attended by only a handful of witnesses.
