LGUs’ document management digitized

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday launched a nationwide digital platform aimed at modernizing records management and improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability in local government operations.

Called the Document Management System for Local Government Units (DMS4LGUs), the platform was developed under the Local Government Unified Support System–Cities and Municipalities Information Management System (LGUSS-CMIMS).

It digitizes, centralizes, and securely manages official government records through a single platform that will be provided free of charge to all local government units (LGUs) nationwide.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the DMS4LGUs represents a major step, replacing fragmented, paper-based processes with a secure digital system.

The platform is expected to reduce paperwork, improve records management, speed up government transactions, and strengthen coordination among LGU offices while making official records more accessible, Remulla said.

He urged local government units to maximize the use of the system, saying digital innovation would make government services "more accessible, responsive, and effective for every Filipino." Before its nationwide rollout, the DILG conducted consultations and pilot testing with selected local government units to validate the system's functionality and incorporate operational feedback.

The pilot testing covered the provincial governments of Cavite and Rizal, the cities of Quezon, Marikina, and Carmona, and the municipality of San Mateo.
