Liverpool have opened talks with Southampton for Romeo Lavia.
The Belgian youngster is expected to leave Saints after last season's relegation. He arrived only a year ago from Manchester City.
The Daily Mail says Liverpool have sounded out Southampton about Lavia and the conditions of a sale.
Saints are prepared to part with the midfielder at a starting price of 40m.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a young midfielder - though at an affordable price.
