The ongoing process for filing nominations for the local bodies elections entered its third day on Friday, with a total of 134 nominations received across various urban local bodies in the district.
The Municipal Corporation, Mohali, received 40 nominations, Municipal Council, Banur — 13, Municipal Council, Dera Bassi —four, Municipal Council, Kurali — 19, Municipal Council, Lalru —four, Nagar Council, Nayagaon — one, and Municipal Council, Zirakpur — 53 nominations till the end of the day.
May 16 is the last date for filing nominations for the local bodies elections in the district.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 18.Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till May 19.
In Fatehgarh Sahib, 95 nomination papers were filed across four urban local bodies today. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dr Sona Thind stated that on the third day, 27 candidates filed papers from Bassi Pathana, 28 from Mandi Gobindgarh, 23 from Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib and 17 from Khamano Nagar Panchayat.
