TRANSPORT Minister Anthony Loke will proceed with his scheduled official engagements in China, representing Malaysia at the 12th APEC Transportation Ministers Meeting in Beijing today and tomorrow before returning home to handle the process of his resignation.
The Transport Ministry (MOT) said in a statement that Loke’s programme included several bilateral meetings and the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
The agreements cover transport cooperation between the Malaysian and Chinese governments in land transport, rail, maritime, aviation and logistics, as well as aviation safety cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
“The CAAM-CAAC MoU covers areas such as airworthiness, aviation organisation certification, personnel licensing, operational oversight, as well as mutual recognition of findings and certificates of compliance,” the ministry said.
After completing his official programme in Beijing, Loke is scheduled to travel to Shanghai to join the Prime Minister’s delegation before returning to Malaysia to handle matters related to the process of resigning as Transport Minister.
“MOT will continue to ensure that all ministry affairs and responsibilities are carried out as usual in a professional and orderly manner,” the ministry said.
Loke offered to resign as Transport Minister on Saturday following DAP’s position on the conditional pardon granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. - September 21, 2026
