- London's Duke of York's Theatre has been renamed The Tom Stoppard Theatre in honour of the late playwright Sir Tom Stoppard.
- The renaming coincides with the opening of a new West End production of Stoppard's play Arcadia, which transferred from the Old Vic to the West End on 1 July.
- The theatre, given its title in 1895, was inadvertently named after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who held the Duke of York title until last year amid scrutiny over sexual abuse allegations.
- Stoppard's children and widow expressed their profound delight and honour at the tribute, highlighting his deep connection to the West End.
- Sir Tom Stoppard was a highly acclaimed playwright, winning five Tony Awards, three Olivier Awards, and an Academy Award during his five-decade career.
