Loose Women star Sunetra Sarker reveals death of ex-husband: ‘Still haven’t processed it’

Casualty and Loose Women star Sunetra Sarker has said she is struggling to process the death of her ex-husband Nick Corfield, who was the father of her child.

Sarker, who shared son Noah with Corfield, opened up about her ex’s 2024 death for the first time in a new podcast, calling the news “a massive bombshell in our lives”.

“We had really sad news two years ago of Noah’s dad passing away,” she told The Mid Point with Gabby Logan, without disclosing the cause.

“I don't even think I've still processed Nick's passing,” Sarker, 53, added, revealing that she speaks like he’s still around “to try and pretend to myself he's still here”.

The actor was married to Nick from 2003 and the couple divorced in 2013. This marks the first time Sarker has spoken publicly about Corfield’s death.

The actor said she has spent the last two years helping her son grieve and keeping the memory of Corfield “very present” as Noah, 25, is “worried about forgetting” him.

Noah has also been building his relationship with Sarker’s second husband, Scott Carey, who has stepped into the “big gap” left by Corfield’s death.

“Scott’s made our home very much a memory to all the things that Nick may have done and made sure we've got pictures,” Sarker explained.

“He's just been really mindful – he plays darts with him all the time. He just does a lot of things that don't even come past my mind because I'm focusing maybe more on the emotional stuff.”

Sarker married Scott in 2018, 27 years after meeting him at Brunel University, where she studied Information Systems for Business in Europe.

The actor’s career was launched in 1988 after landing the role of Nisha Batra in Channel 4 soap Brookside, and she also had memorable roles in regional series London Bridge and hospital sitcom No Angels.

She played Dr Zoe Hanna in BBC’s Casualty from 2007 until 2016, and returned in 2018 when co-star Jamie Davis, who played Max Walker, left the series. She reprised the role one more time in 2024.

Sarker became a panellist on ITV daytime show Loose Women on 2021, and appeared the following year in school drama series Ackley Bridge, winning Best TV Character at the Asian Media Awards for playing cook Kaneez Paracha.

The actor competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, where she was paired with former professional Brendan Cole. They were voted off in week 10 and that year’s series was won by Caroline Flack.
