THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) said its “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos (Operation Safe and Orderly Travel)–Undas 2026,” for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day was in effect.
”The LTO will continue conducting inspections, monitoring and other safety measures at major terminals and along roads to ensure safe, orderly and reliable travel for the public this Undas,” LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said on Saturday after inspection of passenger buses in Cubao, Quezon City, and at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.
The review of 27 bus terminals, all of which passed inspection, was done in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard.
Lacanilao said drug tests would also be done among drivers.
He said personnel would be deployed in strategic areas, including tollways at major transport corridors, as well as expressway entry and exit points.
LTO said the deployment covers the Manila–Cavite Expressway, South Luzon Expressway, Skyway, STAR Tollway, North Luzon Expressway, Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway, Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway, Cavite–Laguna Expressway and Philippine Economic Zone Authority–Tollway.
The first phase of deployment will end on Oct. 27, while the second phase will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4.
”We want to ensure that every motorist has a safe and orderly journey this Undas, but we also encourage the public to follow traffic laws and practice responsible driving at all times,” Lacanilao said.
