Ludhiana thrashed Mansa on Sunday by an innings and 80 runs in the rain-hit Group D match of Inter-District (U-19) Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy.
Ludhiana rode on a spirited bowling display by Vansh Rana and Anmoljeet Singh at the GRD Academy ground on Hambran Road here.
After the opening day’s play was washed out, Ludhiana bundled out Mansa for a paltry 63 runs in 30.4 overs. Ludhiana bowlers dominated from the outset. In reply, the hosts declared their first innings at 169 for 4 in 35 overs. Ravtej Singh led with a fluent 80.
Trailing by 106 runs, Mansa’s batting collapsed once again and could only manage 26 runs in 24.5 overs. Vansh Rana and Anmoljeet Singh were unplayable. Vansh finished with match figures of 10 wickets for 21 runs in 26 overs. Anmojeet returned figures of 9 wickets for 23 runs in 23 overs.
The convincing win earned Ludhiana full points, taking their tally to nine points from three matches and propelling them to the top of Group D standings. Patiala and Barnala, who also have nine points each, occupy the second and third positions, respectively.
Ludhiana will now take on Barnala in their fourth and final league encounter, scheduled at the latter’s home ground on June 2 and 3.
