Kota Kinabalu: Luyang Assemblyman Samuel Wong has urged Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and the Sabah Government to review safety measures at car parks and shoplots following a vehicle crashing into a shop at Bornion Centre on Tuesday.
Wong said CCTV footage showed a Perodua Kancil moving forward from a parking bay, mounting the pavement and crashing into the premises, knocking a woman into food items prepared for sale.
He said the victim suffered bruising to her leg and had undergone an X-ray, adding that he had advised her to undergo a more comprehensive examination as a precaution.
Wong said the incident highlighted the need for physical barriers such as steel bollards at vulnerable locations where parking bays are directly next to pedestrian walkways and business premises.
He also urged motorists to ensure the correct gear was selected before moving and to properly engage the P (Park) position and parking brake before leaving their vehicles.
