Lyceum arrests 4-game skid, stops Perpetual

MANILA, Philippines -- Lyceum of the Philippines University ended its 4-game skid after stopping University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 98-89, in the NCAA Season 102 men's basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena Tuesday.

Leading by four at 84-80 in the last three minutes, the Pirates cruised to an 11-3 run punctuated by a Jonathan Daileg to take a 95-83 lead with 26 seconds left.

Mark Gojo Cruz and Leobert Casinillo each drained a trey to pull Perpetual within six, 89-95, but Daileg drilled a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to seal the win for Lyceum.

Following a Cruz missed trey, Axl Manuel got fouled and split his charities with 0.5 seconds left for the final count.

The Pirates improved to 2-5 at the bottom of Group A.

Perpetual suffered its fourth straight loss to fall to 2-5 and share the Group B third place with Emilio Aguinaldo College.
