Recently, a video went viral on social media showing a condo management putting unit owners on blast by displaying the names of those who didn’t pay their maintenance fees on a digital board.
The video, shared by TikTok user staywokeproperty, shows the digital board set up in a public spot where it can easily be seen by others.
The board listed owners who haven’t paid
In the video, the digital board shows a list of owners who haven’t paid their maintenance fees, starting from December 31, 2024.
The board even went as far as showing the owner’s name, unit number, and the amount they owe.
One owner owed over RM15,000
Based on the 15-second video, the first owner owed RM5,346.30, followed closely by another who owed RM8,865.87, and the last owner owed a whopping RM15,149.50 in outstanding maintenance fees.
The building management had likely reached its limit with residents who continued to ignore their responsibility to pay for maintenance, despite being reminded several times.
Netizens started flooding the comment section with their thoughts.
“My apartment already agreed that even if payment is late by just 1 month, enforcement action will be taken immediately. Now, there are only 6 defaulting units out of 256.”
“The owner owes RM15k? They must be enjoying the lift rides and swimming in the pool like it’s nothing.”
