A Malaysian man ended his relationship after seeing photos of his girlfriend cuddling in bed with her female best friend.
Sharing his experience in an anonymous post, the man claimed that this was not the first time a relationship of his had ended over a girlfriend’s closeness with another woman.
In fact, he said both of his recent relationships ended due to what he felt was a lack of boundaries between his girlfriends and their female best friends.
1st girlfriend was seen hugging another woman
The man said he met his first girlfriend while they were working part time.
About three months into their relationship, he claimed she began looking down on him because he earned less and took longer to receive a promotion.
One day, he allegedly saw her hugging another woman and behaving intimately with her. When he asked who the woman was, his girlfriend reportedly replied: “She’s just my best friend.”
Instead of confronting her further, he decided to end the relationship.
I didn’t want to waste my youth or continue draining myself emotionally,” he wrote.
Despite what happened, he said he wished the two women happiness before walking away.
2nd girlfriend repeatedly refused to meet him
The man later met his second girlfriend through a dating platform. After chatting for some time, he repeatedly invited her to meet him for dates such as shopping, visiting exhibitions and attending Chinese cultural activities.
However, he claimed she turned him down with an excuse every time.
After being rejected multiple times, he began to feel that something was not right. His suspicions grew when he came across a social media story posted by his girlfriend.
According to him, the photos showed her hugging another woman and cuddling with her in bed.
Upon seeing the photos, he felt that he already had his answer and decided not to question her further.
Instead, he sent her a message ending their relationship.
Since you already have a boyfriend but still have no boundaries with your so called best friend, I have decided to let you go.
“I’m setting you free, and I’m setting myself free too.”
Says boundaries matter in every relationship
The man acknowledged that some people might think he was overly jealous or that the women involved were simply close friends.
He admitted that he had tried to convince himself of the same thing.
However, he maintained that people in relationships should understand the importance of setting boundaries, regardless of whether the other person is a man or a woman.
Loyalty is not the only thing that matters in a relationship. Boundaries matter too.”
He ended his post by urging those with partners to respect their relationships and consider their partner’s sense of security.
“A genuine friendship does not need crossed boundaries to prove its closeness.”
“A healthy relationship should not leave your partner constantly living with doubt and insecurity.”
