wk m’sian mum, who's months pregnant, gives up lrt seat to blind mum & her kid
Although she was already eight months into her pregnancy, a Malaysian woman chose to give up her LRT seat after noticing another mother who needed it.

The brief encounter later left her crying throughout the rest of her journey.

Helped the mother and daughter sit down

Sharing her experience on Threads, she said she was taking the LRT to work when a blind mother boarded with her two young children, both of whom were in primary school.

At the time, the pregnant woman only had three stations left before reaching her destination.

She decided to stand and offered her seat to the mother. Together with another vacant seat, there was enough space for the woman and her daughter to sit.

She also helped the pair settle into their seats before continuing the journey standing.

The encounter stayed on her mind

Despite describing what she did as a small gesture, the woman said seeing the mother with her children affected her deeply.

She found herself crying nonstop as she thought about the responsibilities the mother might be handling every day while raising two children and navigating public spaces.

Although she wondered whether her pregnancy hormones had made her more emotional, she said the family’s situation continued to weigh heavily on her heart.

“Sometimes you see someone for only a few minutes, but somehow their situation stays in your heart for the rest of the day.”

She also clarified that she did not share the story to seek praise for offering her seat.

She has gone entire journeys without a seat

In the comments, a netizen asked whether anyone had offered the eight months pregnant woman a seat during her journey.

She responded that not everyone had the same level of awareness, adding that there had been days when she stood from the first station until the last because nobody offered her a seat.

The woman explained that she would not usually ask someone to move for her. If another passenger noticed and offered, she would accept it gratefully. Otherwise, she would simply remain standing.

She added that this might be why an unprompted offer of a seat felt particularly meaningful to her.
